Article made sensible case for future of ‘Chief’ sign

Judith Reynolds’ article and accompanying cartoon (Herald, Nov. 3) make a sensible and humorous case for where The Chief sign belongs and why.

In analyzing a long-running debate, she not only gives the statue’s history, but she explains how and why it is more than an amusing artifact. Her substantive article explains why and how the cartoonish sign has an “appropriate home in Western American history.”

How lucky we Durangoans are to still have a small town newspaper, but especially one presenting current news visually as well as verbally.
