Big things can come in small packages – and they will on Saturday when a handful of local artists host a popup art show and sale in downtown Durango.
The artists – Cindy Coleman, Miki Harder, Elizabeth Kinahan, Amy Vaclav, Mariah Kaminsky and Allison Leigh Smith – will hold their Super Amazing Art Show at The Newman Building, 801B Main Ave. (downstairs, formerly Rose Duds).

WHAT: Super Amazing Extraordinary: The Biggest Little Art Show in Durango. Featuring work by Cindy Coleman, Miki Harder, Mariah Kaminsky, Elizabeth Kinahan and Amy Vaclav.
WHEN: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday.
WHERE: Downstairs of the Newman Building, 801 Main Ave. (formerly RoseDuds).
The shows have been going on since 2009, said Coleman in a news release, and included her, Harder, Kinahan, Vaclav and Heather Leavitt Martinez, who eventually stepped away. The one-day popups happened yearly until around 2011 when, “after years of fun, the girls became busy in their own lives, both personally and professionally, and the season of Super Amazing sadly ended,” the release said.
Now it’s back, and Coleman said the fun that was there in the beginning is still there: “We wouldn’t do it otherwise,” she said.
“The four of us who originally started it, we just did it because it was so much fun, we loved hanging out,” she said. “We loved getting together and doing this, and now we’ve added the other two girls, and it’s funny because yesterday, Allison said, ‘We’re doing this again next year.’ We haven’t even done it yet.”
And because of the enthusiasm, there may be additional shows in the near future, Coleman said.
Saturday’s show is made up of miniature pieces, capped at 11 inches by 14 inches as the largest. There will be mini paintings, napkins, towels, ornaments, magnets, stickers and more.
“We’re excited that it’s a group of women,” Coleman said. “We’re all creative. We want to share what inspires us, and we hope that other people love that as well and like it. I don’t want to speak for all of them, but I know that it thrills me when somebody buys something of mine and loves it so much that they want to take it home and have it for their very own. That makes me so happy. It’s just a fun way for us to get together and do what we love to do and share that with the community.”
