Maria’s to host Hillerman book event May 30
Maria’s Bookshop will host author Anne Hillerman for a reading and signing of her new book, Rock With Wings, at 6:30 p.m. May 30 at the Smiley Theater, 1309 East Third Ave.
The cafe and bar will open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 and are available at Maria’s Bookshop. A free ticket is available with purchase of Rock With Wings before the day of the event.
Rock with Wings, Hillerman’s second mystery, continues the stories of Joe Leaphorn, Jim Chee and Bernadette Manuelito. The book follows the trail of the Navajo detectives created by Hillerman’s father, Tony Hillerman.

Scott Graham to read, sign book ‘Mountain Rampage’
Maria’s Bookshop, in partnership with San Juan Citizens Alliance and Torrey House Press, will host author Scott Graham for a reading and signing of his new book, Mountain Rampage, at a book release party at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the shop, 960 Main Ave.
Graham is the author of Canyon Sacrifice, the first book in the National Park Mystery Series. Graham’s previous book, Extreme Kids, won the National Outdoor Book Award.

Artisans market to begin in May in Gem Village
The Village Artisans Market, 39722 U.S. Highway 160 in Gem Village, will be open Monday through Saturday from May 30 to Oct. 17.
Local artists and craftsmen will present their contemporary arts and crafts on a daily or weekly basis.
