Durango Public Library is seeking art submissions in all mediums and subjects from teen artists in La Plata County.
Work will be collected from May 1 to May 21, and displayed throughout the main library, 1900 East Third Ave., from May 25 to Aug. 31.
Any student in grades 6 to 12 is eligible to submit work. All work should be original in concept, design, and execution. All submitted entries must be ready to display, matted with a hanging device, or based for three-dimensional work (display space is limited for 3-D work).
Submission forms are available at the library. Completed submissions may be dropped off at the main library’s Children’s Desk any time during regular library hours.

Music in the Mountains will host Cocktails with the Conductor at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Sorrel Sky Gallery, 828 Main Ave.

The two-week celebration of local Kindergarten to 12th-grade art and artists will begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday with a reception and awards ceremony for the Colorado 3rd Congressional District High School Art Competition presented by U.S. Representative of the 3rd District of Colorado, Congressman Scott Tipton.
DAC will host the opening reception for the featured Creativity Festivity exhibit from 4 to 6 p.m. April 7 in the Barbara Conrad Gallery. Artwork for the exhibit was selected by local art teachers.

The Durango Arts Center Art Library will host “Ink & Wax: Intimate Surface Directions” by Karen Riley through April 26.
Participants will explore the visual language possibilities inherent when combining encaustic monotype with relief printing in Riley’s exhibit.
Artists, artisans and craftspeople are wanted for the Durango Autumn Arts Festival taking place Sept. 17 and 18 on East Second Avenue.
The festival is limited to 100 exhibitors, and the application deadline is May 20.

The 40th Annual Juried Art Exhibition is open to all artists working in any traditional or contemporary 2D and 3D media except film. Submissions are due to DAC on May 24.
The 2016 Juried Plein Air Exhibit, An Artist’s Vision of Reality, is open to all artists and entries are to be plein air, any medium except photography, created within the last two years and not larger than 3 feet x 3 feet. All work submitted must be for sale. Submissions are due to DAC on June 28.
