Trick-or-treating on tap downtown

The Downtown Business Improvement District, Durango Chamber of Commerce and more than 90 local businesses have teamed up to host Halloween trick-or-treating today.

Downtown merchants will offer Halloween goodies and surprises from 4 to 6 p.m. for children 10 and younger dressed in costumes and accompanied by an adult.

Participating merchants will display orange pumpkins in their windows to signal their involvement. Visit www.downtowndurango.org for a list of participating businesses.

KSUT Member Party is Saturday at Ska

KSUT Radio’s 21st annual Membership Party and Silent Auction will take place Saturday from 5:30-9:30 p.m. At Ska Brewing, 225 Girard St.

The masquerade party will feature beer from Ska, food from Durangourmet, wine from Wagon Wheel Liquors and a huge selection of auction goodies, including music, ski packages and artwork.

DAC offering two drawing workshops

Two five-week drawing workshops will begin next week at the Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave. Both will be taught by Ed Bolster.

Beginning Drawing will start at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and run through Dec. 9. Figure Drawing will start at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and run through Dec. 11. Visit www.durangoarts.org for more information.

Models sought for Dugi fashion show

Orlando Dugi and the Center for Southwest Studies are seeking models for Dugi’s upcoming fashion show, which will take place in the Fort Lewis College Ballroom on Nov. 15.

Dugi, a designer based out of Santa Fe, creates luxury fashion pieces and accessories embellished with beadwork, feathers and gemstones. Several of his gowns recently appeared in Vogue Italia. His works are currently on display in the Center’s gallery, along with the beadwork of Ken Williams.

A call for models will take place Wednesday and Thursday in the Vallecito Room at Fort Lewis College, 1000 Rim Drive. Visit www.orlandodugi.com for more information.

Artist to cut paper silhouettes Saturday

Artist Judith Housel will be cutting traditional paper portraits on Saturday at Kids Rock, 563 Main Ave.

Housel, 70, has been making the traditional silhouettes for more than 40 years. Her silhouettes are cut freehand without any tracing or drawing. Kids and families are welcome. Portraits will cost $17.50 each.
