Stitch is bringing two quilters from Gee’s Bend, Alabama, for a weekend of workshops and lectures June 17 and 18.
Gee’s Bend quilts feature broken patterns, high color contrasts and asymmetry. Aesthetically similar to modern geometric painting and West African textiles, the quilts came into being alongside gospel, blues and jazz.
