Film Critic Series to show ‘Child of God’

The New York Film Critic Series will continue at the Animas City Theatre with a screening of “Child of God” at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The series brings independent films to small theaters around the country before their national release and will feature a preshow program with behind-the-scenes information as well a Q&A with Rolling Stone film critic Peter Travers and director and star James Franco after the screening.

“Child of God” is based on the acclaimed Cormac McCarthy novel and follows a dispossessed, violent man in 1960s Tennessee who collapses into a life of crime. It stars Scott Haze, Franco and Timothy Blake Nelson.

Tickets to the 16-and-older event are $12.
