Sorrel Sky to show jewelry designer

Sorrel Sky Gallery of Durango, 828 Main Ave., announces that it will represent Bernd Wolf, internationally-acclaimed German jewelry designer.

The Wolf collections marry high-quality cut gemstones and uniquely-textured precious metals with the symbolism of form and material. Kirtan to benefit Tara Mandala

A Kirtan with Krishna Das, a benefit for Tara Mandala, will take place at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20 in the Miller Middle School auditorium, 2608 Junction St.

Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door and can be purchased at Southwest Sound and www.eventbrite.com. Proceeds will benefit Tara Mandala, a Tibetan Buddhist retreat center located southwest of Pagosa Springs.

Series to teach dance, acting

The Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave., announces adult performing art “Saturday Series” featuring local specialists and working artist instructors teaching acting, theatrical dance, improv comedy and more. Each “Saturday Series” workshop costs $34 for center members and $40 for nonmembers and runs Saturdays in October and November.

The center’s artistic director and theatre manager, Theresa A. Carson, will teach “How to Audition: Helpful Tips for Landing a Role” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 17. This workshop will focus on audition techniques including proper dress, resume tips and how to make the best acting choices in cold readings.

Unleashing one’s muse discussed

Barb Horn will offer the mixed media workshop “Unleash Your Muse” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays from Nov. 9 to Dec. 7.

No experience is needed. Classes will incorporate SoulCollage, writing, improvisation and other expressive modes. This four-session workshop costs $50 for center members and $40 for nonmembers.

FLC art gallery to open exhibit

Fort Lewis College Art Gallery will present “unre(Solved): Patti Singer” from Wednesday to Nov. 16.

An opening reception will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday. Patti Singer’s solo show includes four installations that utilize repurposed children’s toys. Through assemblage and mixed media, she explores the emotional and psychological terrain that originates in childhood and underlies adult perceptions. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday.
