City of Durango offers Call to Artist
The city of Durango announces a Call to Artist for existing 3-dimensional artwork (sculpture) to be added to its collection of public art.
The city is seeking artwork for three bases, with installation planned for spring 2016. The city is currently using CallforEntry.org (Café) for this call. Sign-up for this website is free for artists. Details, including the budget, information about the locations and any requirements are all detailed on Café.

Art auction to benefit arts education
The Durango Education Foundation’s Online Art Auction is open for business at BiddingOwl.com.
Proceeds will benefit the foundation’s Michael Crane Memorial Arts Education fund, which supports visual and performing arts programs in Durango School District 9-R. In recent years, the foundation’s Crane Fund has helped with stipends for visiting professional artists and musicians, 3-D printers, digital cameras and more. The auction offers new works by local artists as well as previously enjoyed pieces donated by the foundation board and staff. The auction runs through Dec. 14.

Choirs to perform Christmas concert
Singers from the four Durango Choral Society choirs and members of the Durango Jazz Combo are practicing for “A Traditional Family Christmas,” which will take place at 3 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College.
Tickets are available at www.DurangoConcerts.com, by calling 247-7657 or at the Welcome Center box office located at East Eighth Street and Main Avenue. Concert highlights will include a visit from Santa Claus, and guest conductor Dene Thomas, Fort Lewis College president and the winner of a fundraising auction.
The public also is invited to the Holiday Gala Fundraiser, a silent auction to benefit the Durango Children’s Chorale, before and after the concert, from noon to 5:30 p.m. in Jones Hall (next door to the concert hall). Auction-goers will enjoy free refreshments and live music.
Artisans’ market opens for holidays
The Durango Arts Center announces its annual Winter Solstice Artisans’ Market opening Nov. 27 and running through Dec. 24, Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Every year, the center’s Barbara Conrad Gallery is transformed into a Northern European artisan market featuring more than 60 regional artists.

Tuareg jewelry trunk show to be held
The Durango Arts Center will host a Tuareg Jewelry Trunk Show with Moussa Albaka in the Plein Gallery gift shop from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 27 and 28.
Albaka is Inadan, an artisan tribe of the Tuareg in Niger, West Africa, where traditional Tuareg jewelry design is passed down from generation to generation among men in the deserts of Niger. Many of Moussa’s designs are traditional, but he has been creating modern pieces in his own unique style for many years. He has exhibited his artwork in the Smithsonian Museum and won the UNESCO award for artistic excellence. For more information, visit www.DurangoArts.org.
Follies announces mail-in ticket drawing
The 2016 Snowdown Follies Mail-In Ticket Drawing will take place on Dec. 5. Approximately 580 regular tickets will be sold by mail. Mail-in order forms are available at www.snowdownfollies.org.
A maximum of four tickets per order is permitted. Only one ticket order form may be drawn per person. The name submitted on the order form must be a live, adult human, 18 years of age or older. 2016 Snowdown Follies ticket-seekers may submit as many order forms as desired; although, the maximum number of tickets per person is limited to four per person, 12 per household.
2016 Snowdown Follies ticket prices are two for $40 or four for $80. To be eligible to be drawn, all mail-in orders must include the following: A self-addressed return envelope (stamp is not required), a check made out to Snowdown Follies in the exact amount of the sought-after tickets and a completed order form. All mail-in ticket order forms must be received at P.O. Box 2342, Durango, CO, 81302 by 9 a.m. Dec. 5.
