Readers’ theater to touch on local history

Fort Lewis College students and actors will celebrate International Education Week with a readers’ theater performance of “Dear Father, Don’t Worry” on Wednesday.

The event, which will take place at 4 p.m. in FLC’s Roshong Recital Hall, 1000 Rim Drive, is free.

“Dear Father” will feature Swedish exchange student Daniel Barkenäs as Gustaf Nordenskiöld, the young Swedish scientist who conducted the first archaeological studies of Mesa Verde and whose activities sparked an international incident.

It will be narrated by the Herald’s Judith Reynolds (who wrote it), with FLC Theatre Department Chair Dennis Elkins and FLC student Matt Socci playing multiple parts.

FLC singers will perform Western songs, and a reception will follow the performance.
