Fort Collins’ SHEL to perform at James Ranch

SHEL, a band of four sisters from Fort Collins, will play from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at James Ranch’s last Burger and a Band Night of the summer.

SHEL is an acronym for the beginning letters of the band members’ names: Sarah, Hannah, Eva and Liza.

Tickets are $55, and include a farm-to-table burger, side, drink and reserved seating.

They may be purchased at James Ranch Market or www.shelatjamesranch.brownpapertickets.com. Reserved seating is necessary.

Auditions for 10-Minute Play Festival coming soon

Adults 18 and older are invited to audition for the 10-Minute Play Festival from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Durango Arts Center theater, 802 East Second Ave. The play will run in early October.

No preparation is necessary, but participants should arrive ready to read small scenes that will be provided.

Singer-songwriter Steve Earle to perform

The Sheridan Arts Foundation will host an evening with singer-songwriter and roots rocker Steve Earle at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Sheridan Opera House, 110 North Oak St., Telluride. Tickets went on sale at noon Thursday.

Throughout his more than 30-year career, Earle has explored American roots music, including country, rock ’n’ roll, folk, rockabilly and blues.

Tickets are $50 and $65, plus a $4 ticketing fee (the fee applies at all sales outlets).

Author to read memoir at San Juan Coffee

Local author Anna Redsand will read from her new memoir, To Drink from the Silver Cup: From Faith Through Exile and Beyond, at 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at San Juan Coffee Co., 4 East Main St. in Cortez.

An open discussion will follow the reading.

‘One Woman Band’ Tiffany Christopher to play

Tiffany Christopher, known as a “one woman band,” will play at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Balcony Bar & Grill, 600 Main Ave.

Christopher’s shows are based around vocals, kick drum, high hat, guitar, ukulele, piano and loops and effects, which she combines into a high-energy performance.

Christopher also raps, dances and head bangs while playing the drums.
