Jewelry, painting shows open in Aztec

Feat of Clay Gallery in Atzec will host a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday to mark the opening of two new exhibits.

Both artists will be on hand to talk about their work.

Sandy Martin is a jeweler and mixed-media artist from Farmington whose latest work entails casting resin animals to set in sterling silver and enameling.

Melissa Silversmith, who also hails from Farmington, is a painter whose exhibit, “Juxtaposition,” features pieces that feel both orderly and chaotic.

The shows will be up through July 19. Feat of Clay is located at 107 S. Main St. in Aztec. Call (505) 334-4335 for more information.

Summer Sketchuality to start Thursday

Summer Sketchuality, a new drawing series, kicks off Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Lost Dog Bar & Lounge.

The event will allow artists to sketch live models – including models in costumes and fun outfits. Artists are asked to bring their own pens and paper. The cost is $7.
