Tarot event comes to Durango this weekend

The fifth annual Living Tarot Oracle will take place Friday through Sunday at the Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave.

The event will feature readings, presentations and workshops with Tarot readers Lisa de St. Croix, Dylan Hoffman and Julia Hesse.

It will kick off Friday with “Tarot Explorations in Three Parts,” from 6:30-8:30 p.m., and continue on Saturday and Sunday with Living Tarot, an interactive event with Tarot readings from people representing different cards.

The event will also offer a journaling workshop with de St. Croix on Sunday.

Civic Winds to perform Saturday

Southwest Civic Winds, a Four Corners community concert band, will perform a concert titled “Burning Up the Night” at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Turano-Chrisman Performing Arts Theater in Farmington, New Mexico.

The theater is in Piedra Vista High School, 5700 College Blvd.

The Civic Winds features brass, woodwind and percussion musicians from Durango, Cortez, Pagosa Springs, Farmington and more. Mark A. Walters is the conductor.

DAC seeking art for annual holiday show

The Durango Arts Center has announced a call for entries for its annual holiday show, “Winter Solstice Artisans Market,” which will run from Nov. 21 to Dec. 24 in the center’s Barbara Conrad Gallery, 802 East Second Ave.

The market will offer an opportunity for artists and craft people to share their creative work with the community. It is open to artists from the region who work in ceramics, jewelry, metal, textiles, glass, painting, photography, wood and more.

Interested artists can find entry forms at www.durangoarts.org or in person at the Durango Arts Center. Art drop-off will take place on Nov. 18 and the market will open with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 21. Participating artists are asked to sign up for sales and assistance shifts.
