Schools sought to stream ballet
Colorado Ballet seeks schools throughout Colorado and out-of-state to participate in a free remote live stream of its student matinee performance of The Nutcracker at 11 a.m. Dec. 4.

The Nutcracker features choreography after Marius Petipa and music by Tchaikovsky, performed live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra. The total runtime of the production including the intermission is 1 hour and 50 minutes. The 20 minute intermission will feature live interviews with artistic staff and dancers for schools participating in the live stream.
First Thursdays Holiday Art Walk
First Thursdays Art Walk in December will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at participating venues around Durango.

Tuareg Silversmith trunk show
The Plein Gallery in the Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave., will host Tuareg silversmith Moussa Albaka from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday for a jewelry trunk show.
The trunk show will showcase Albaka’s creations including necklaces and amulets, bracelets, earrings, buckles, daggers and locks – all handmade of 95 percent silver. Moussa Albaka, of the Inadan class, is a highly regarded artisan among his tribe and now the world. He travels all over the United States, Africa and Europe.

Maria’s to host author Mandy Mikulencak
Maria’s Bookshop will host local author Mandy Mikulencak as she presents her young adult crossover bestseller Burn Girl at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at 960 Main Ave.
The book is set in Durango. Mikulencak appeared at the Mountain & Plains Independent Booksellers Association Fall Trade Show in Denver and also will appear at Maria’s Authors Become Booksellers event on Indies First/Small Business Saturday on Nov. 28.

A Musician’s Marketplace & Jam will take place from noon to 6 p.m. Dec. 5 at Crash Music, 104 N. Main Ave. in Aztec.
