Deadlines for grant program is June 30
Regional artists have until June 30 to submit applications for the Durango Arts Center’s new MicroGrants program.
The program will distribute small funds to emerging and established artists in the region, serving as a catalyst to further their work.
To apply, artists must be living in and creating work in La Plata, Archuleta, Montezuma, Dolores or San Juan counties. The grants may be applied to artists needs large and small, from materials to professional development.

DAC seeking artists for juried exhibit
The Durango Arts Center is seeking artists for its 38th annual Juried Exhibit, which will be up in the Barbara Conrad Gallery from July 11 to Aug. 9.
A call for entries is open to all artists working in any traditional or contemporary 2- and 3-dimensional media except film. Artists can enter up to three pieces.
The winners of Best of Show ($500), Second Place Award ($200) and Third Place Award ($100) will be announced at the opening reception from 5-7 p.m. July 11.

Durango poet takes third prize in contest
Durango poet Susan Foster has won third place in a poetry contest that is part of the upcoming Southwest Old Growth Forests Conference.
All five winning poems, which were selected from 37 submissions, will be read at a special poetry event during the conference. She and the other winners also will receive prizes and free admission to the conference.
