Solillaquists perform today at ACT

Hip-hop group Solillaquists of Sound will perform a show at 9 p.m. today at the Animas City Theatre, 128 E. College Drive.

Emcee Swamburger and producer Divinci will appear on stage for the performance. The show will also feature acts Whiskey Blanket, Grim and Darling and Bullhead*Ded.

Tickets for the Durango Massive event are $10.

Acting workshop for all levels at DAC

Theresa Carlson will teach an acting workshop for adults at the Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave., this fall.

The workshop will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 and continue on Oct. 25, 29, Nov. 1 and Nov. 5. The class will focus on the fundamentals of acting through games, exercises, improvisation and scene work.

Carlson is the artistic director and theatre manager of the Durango Arts Center.

Her directing credits locally include “Cabaret,” “Little Shop of Horrors” and “Footloose.”

Rachlin to speak at photo club meeting

Noted Durango photographer Howard Rachlin will present a seminar on photographic composition at the Durango Photography Club’s October meeting this week.

The club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the banquet room (Animas Room) at the Holiday Inn, 21636 Highway 160 West.

Rachlin will be discussing techniques for composing photos and will offer many examples of photographs during his seminar.

Ghormley show looks at terrain of the body

Using printmaking, drawing, sewing, fabric and paper, Jennifer Ghormley examines the human body in her new show, “Exploring the Terrain.”

The show will open with a reception from 4:30-6 p.m. Wednesday at the Fort Lewis College Art Gallery, 1000 Rim Drive.

The exhibit traces the history of touch and explores the physical and emotional sensations of the body.
