Native American workshops offered
Fort Lewis College will be hosting art events and workshops through the month of November to highlight Native American Heritage Month.
Workshops, which begin on Thursday, will cover skills like beading, moccasin-making, earring crafting and more. Email boxer_m@fortlewis.edu for more information.
Lecture to explore Colo. River adventures
Marsha Weisiger will give a lecture on the rich history of Colorado River adventures at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College, 1000 Rim Drive.
Weisiger is the Julie and Rocky Dixon Chair of U.S. Western History at the University of Oregon.
Her talk, “Narrating Adventures Down the Colorado River,” will recount stories of men and women who ran the Colorado – from the famed Powell Expeditions of 1869-72 through Edward Abbey’s photo shoot for Playboy magazine in 1977.
