Guest director to speak at Fort Lewis College
The Fort Lewis College Theatre Department will welcome John Flax, founding artistic director of Theater Grottesco of Santa Fe, for a demonstration/performance at 7:30 p.m, Saturday called “Theater Grottesco: Behind the Scenes.”
The program will incorporate clowns, buffoons and object theater, and will be a backstage pass to an understanding of theatrical style from Greek Tragedy to Commedia dell’arte.
Tickets are $10 for everyone and are available online at www.durangoconcerts.com.
Flax will be on campus all weekend doing theater workshops and class visits with FLC students. Theater Grottesco was founded in Paris in 1983 and relies on a combination of classical, contemporary, clowning and puppetry.

Community art program open to new artists
CSArt Durango and Studio & invite artists from Durango and the Four Corners to submit proposals to participate in the second year of Community Supported Art (CSArt Durango).
The CSA program, originally modeled after Community Supported Agriculture and conceived by Springboard for the Arts in Minnesota, is a yearly subscription service of locally produced art. Much like Community Supported Agriculture at the Farmers Market, CSArt Durango invites shareholders to invest directly in the arts community with a “buy local” mentality. Each share includes eight pieces of art, received two at a time at four pick-up events throughout the season. Forty shares will be sold this year, and accepted artists will be required to produce 40 works of art for the program.
Shares will go on sale March 1.
For more information on submitting your art, visit www.anddurango.com.
