Saturday is Family Day at Animas Museum

The Animas Museum, 3065 West Second Ave., will hold a Family Day on Saturday.

To beat the heat the historic way, drop in between 1 and 3 p.m. to create an old-fashioned fan and explore the museum with a “Seek & Find” adventure.

Admission charges apply, but there is no additional charge for activities. Historical Society members will be admitted free.

For more information, call 259-2402 or visit www.animasmuseum.org.

Local author to sign debut book at DAC

New Durango author Allison James will celebrate the publication of her first book, Piercing the Sky – A Journey of Awakening to Spirit, Self & Sacred Spaces, with a book signing and fundraiser for the Women’s Resource Center from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Durango Arts Center.

Piercing the Sky is James’ memoir about her 1984 summer hiking trip through the Colorado Mountains. During her trip, she finds herself exploring her own self-imposed limitations, and her story takes the reader on a path that transcends the summer hike and provides a map to navigate our own rough terrain of the self with wisdom and grace.

Partial proceeds from book sales will benefit the Women’s Resource Center.

For more information, call 247-1242.
