Arts Briefs for March 28

Troupe to raise funds a yellow brick at time

Merely Players has launched a “Pave the Yellow Brick Road” campaign to assist in the theatrical troupe’s continued ability to keep quality theatre in Durango. The financial assistance will help with set, costumes, props, makeup, publicity, lights and sound, venue rental, salaries, mailings, insurance and other production expenses for their upcoming youth/adult production of the musical “The Wizard Of Oz.”

The troupe is selling 150 simulated bricks that will become a part of a wall display to be featured on performance nights throughout its run of the show and into the upcoming 2014-15 season (which will be announced soon).

Each brick sells for a different price: There is one available for each dollar increment from $1 to $150. Donors receive their name, name of a loved one, company name, or just a special word or two written on one of the 150 bricks in the wall, as well as a ticket to the show and a special mention in the program as one of the Bricklayers.

To buy a brick, visit www.merelyplayers.us and click the “Buy a Brick” link. Merely Players is a 501(c)(3) organization and donations are tax deductible.
