‘Arts District’ to feature 3 Fort Lewis student films

The Rocky Mountain PBS series, “Arts District,” will present three segments produced by Fort Lewis College students.

The 30-minute episode will air at 7:30 p.m. today, according to a news release from RMPBS.

“Arts District” highlights the creativity of Colorado artists. Now in its seventh season, the series is produced with help from producers and college students who work out of Regional Innovation Centers at college campuses around the state. Once a season, “Arts District” produces a student showcase to exclusively share pieces produced from start to finish by college students, the release said.

This year’s showcase will feature four segments created by students – three of those from FLC.

“The students at Fort Lewis competed against each other and against students from other universities in the state. They embraced the challenge and leaned into making some really good short films,” said RMPBS’s producer-in-residence at FLC, Carol L. Fleisher in the news release. “Plus, our Fort Lewis College students chose subjects that immersed them in our Durango community. Will Langston’s film, ‘Stage Name,’ features Chris Bettin, a local businessman and city councilor by day – and a country rocker by night. Peyton Rutkowski’s film, ‘Spirited,’ delves into the art of bartending with the Ore House’s Mark Daley. And Carsyn Randolph reveals the art of fly-tying in ‘Hooked,’ about Duranglers’ own Andy McKinley.”
