I am shocked. I just received my claim summaries for the shots I take once a month. Since I am only taking these for 12 months, it is important that I do not miss a dose.
Recently, I opted to get the shots while on vacation in Texas. The bill for this drug at the Texas location was $2,558 and a $30 injection fee. One month later, I resumed treatment at my orthopedic doctor’s office at CommonSpirit in Durango where the bill was $7,350 for the drug and $54 for the injection.
That’s a difference of $4,792 in drug price! Yes, $4,792 more at CommonSpirit in Durango.
I called the billing office at CommonSpirit hoping they could explain the huge difference in pricing. I was put on hold for an extended period before being told that they would send my inquiry to their administration who sets the pricing.
I was told they would get back with me to explain. I requested follow-up from them within a week; otherwise, I intended to notify our newspaper. Well, no word ... so here I am.
