Author to talk about book at grange

Animas Valley Grange will host a presentation by Joanne Branson Smith about her book, “I Lived at the Rico Depot,” at 6:15 p.m. June 19 at the Animas Valley Grange Hall, 7271 County Road 203.

This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Branson Smith’s mother was the ticket agent at the Rico Depot and they lived at the Depot. Her stories give an intimate glimpse into the people, events and life in the San Juan Mountains in the 1950s. She will also give an overview of the rail service in the San Juan Mountains from the first ore cars in the 1870s to the tourist trains of today.
