I appreciate Ray Gibbons’ letter (
I was unaware of the group. What surprised me, though, was learning the group is targeting local businesses that want to stay out of the recall debate.
I, too, have experienced a negative reaction to those businesses with signs supporting the recall and providing petitions to sign at their businesses. I am dismayed these businesses would weigh into a controversy dividing our community, yet profess to want to serve all of us at their businesses. I suspect many of the individuals and businesses supporting the recall have repeatedly voted against improving and maintaining our county roads and improving and expanding our airport through a mill levy increase, which would undoubtedly bring more people with spending money to our area.
I would consider signing their petition if they, in turn, would commit to improving the county infrastructure. But, rather, it appears they have self-interest at heart and not that of the greater community. Therefore, I likely won’t frequent their businesses until they commit to supporting the entire community.
