Pagosa Ranger District has more than 600 miles of motorized/nonmotorized trails. More than half are nonmotorized. Between the Weminuche and South San Juan Wilderness areas, there are 216 miles of trails in wilderness.
Volunteer hours and donations are needed to help the Forest Service maintain trails. Being a stock user in the wilderness, a contributing member of San Juan Basin Country Horsemen and local business owner, Mike Knapp of Pagosa Springs was already aware of the need for help and resources. He recently made a Platinum Sponsor Level – $5,000 donation to the cause, which will help the perpetual effort to preserve/clear trails for not only the community but for all of those who enjoy this natural resource.
Knapp moved to Pagosa Springs in 2006. He is an active member of the community and is involved in many groups.
