Baker’s Bridge Vet relocates to old Appaloosa building

New clinic opened for business Sept. 11

After months of remodel work, Baker’s Bridge Veterinary recently announced that its new clinic, located in the old Appaloosa Trading Co. building on County Road 203, is now open.

Owner Michael Gibson operated the Appaloosa Trading Co. store at 8350 County Road 203, near Hermosa Creek, for 20 years until it closed in April 2016, and the property was unoccupied for more than a year before Baker’s Bridge Veterinary owner Brian Marshall bought it on May 9.

Work started promptly and continued through Sept. 11, when the clinic opened for business.

Baker’s Bridge Veterinary has been in business since 1992, and was owned by veterinarian Larry Coen until Marshall bought it on Oct. 10, 2010. Marshall operated the clinic at its former location, 13225 East Animas Road (County Road 250), near Baker’s Bridge before he decided to relocate to the larger space on County Road 203.

The old Appaloosa Trading building dates back to 1977, and received a complete renovation from May 9 to Sept. 11 after Marshall bought it. Workers removed the deck; replaced the roof, floor and exterior paneling and most of the interior structure; and installed a new marquee.

“Only two walls of the original structure are left,” said Marshall.

The finishing touches are currently being applied, and the parking lot will soon be paved.

The grand opening is scheduled to be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 21 at the new facility at 8350 County Road 203 in Hermosa.
