It is not too late to vote in this year’s mail-in election, but residents are advised to drop off their ballots at designated drop boxes or La Plata County offices to make them count.
Eligible Colorado electors will consider two statewide questions, Proposition CC to fund education and transportation and Proposition DD to legalize sports betting.
In La Plata County, voters living in various districts will weigh in on school board members, a library tax, a library district and a mosquito district.
Residents can register to vote as late as Election Day.
The deadline for mailing ballots was Thursday, but voters can still cast their ballots at polling centers or 24-hour drop boxes until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The La Plata County Clerk and Recorder polling center, 98 Everett St. in Durango, will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.The Bayfield Town Hall voting center, 1199 Bayfield Parkway in Bayfield, will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.The 24-hour ballot drop boxes are located at the La Plata County Clerk and Recorder’s Office in Durango, La Plata County Administration Building in Durango, Bayfield Town Hall and Farmers Fresh Market in Ignacio.The state Blue Book describes propositions CC and DD, with arguments in support and against the measures, and in-depth analyses. Ballots will be counted regardless of whether they are filled in for every candidate or measure.
Anyone who has not received a ballot can call the county Clerk’s Office at 382-6296. Voters can also verify their eligibility status at www.govotecolorado.com. Election results will be posted at www.laplatacountyclerk.org.
