Bank of the San Juans changes market presidents

Bank of the San Juans has announced the promotion of RJ Rieger to Southwest Region Market President, succeeding Pam Miles, who is retiring at the end of April.

Rieger joined the bank in 2017 as a commercial lender in Durango and was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2020. Rieger was instrumental in managing Bank of the San Juans’ administration of the SBA’s Paycheck Protection Program loans for customers whose businesses have been impacted by the economic slowdown due to COVID-19. He began his banking career in South Dakota and has worked in banking and finance for 15 years. Rieger serves as treasurer of the Juniper School board of directors and chairman of the Housing Solutions for the Southwest, and volunteers for United Way of Southwest Colorado. Rieger will oversee lending and commercial business development at the Bank’s two locations in Durango and at the Pagosa Springs branch.

Miles caps more than a quarter century of service in senior management positions at local financial institutions, 11 of those years with Bank of the San Juans, on April 30. Prior to moving to Durango, Miles was an investigations specialist for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in Denver. During her local banking career, she served on a variety of civic and community organizations, including the Durango Industrial Development Foundation, La Plata Homes Fund and Region 9 revolving loan committee.

Bank of the San Juans, a division of Glacier Bank, is Durango-headquartered, with 19 branches in Colorado serving the communities of Durango, Pagosa Springs, Grand Junction, Rangely, Meeker, Craig, Steamboat Springs, Oak Creek, Colorado City, Canon City, Florence, Pueblo West, Pueblo and Colorado Springs.
