Bar D Wranglers performing fun 'Christmas Jubilee'

The Bar D Wranglers perform their Christmas Jubilee Thursday.

The Bar D Wranglers' popular "Christmas Jubilee" returns for the holidays. The much-beloved cowboy crooners come off the Bar D ranch and take the stage at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College on at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17.

With the Christmas Jubilee, the Bar D Wranglers weave together traditional holiday and Western music, cowboy poetry, tall tales and humor. It is a warm-hearted, fun-filled, all ages show that inspires the entire family to embrace the true meaning of the holidays.

The Wranglers home base, the Bar D Chuckwagon, was founded in 1969 in Durango's Animas Valley by Cy Scarborough.

The attraction has grown throughout the years and, as one of Durango's popular tourism draws, the Wranglers perform to capacity crowds each summer. Though Scarborough retired some years back, he traditionally joins the current Wranglers for a song or two during the Christmas Jubilee at the Concert Hall.

The Wranglers are Gary Cook (guitar), Richard Lee Cody (guitar) Matt Palmer (fiddle) and Joel Racheff (upright bass). Gary Cook is a two-time national flat pick champion guitar player.

The Bar D Wranglers have enjoyed performances at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn., broadcast on the Grand Ole Opry - television and radio. They are also regular performers at the annual Chuckwagons of the West Jamboree.
