On Nov. 6, we will be voting for Barbara McLachlan for state representative of House District 59 (that’s you, Archuleta, Gunnison, Hinsdale, La Plata, Ouray and San Juan counties).
As educators, we both appreciate all the work that Rep. McLachlan has done for teachers and promises to continue to do for education, such as retaining qualified teachers in rural Colorado school districts and advocating for vocational schools.
As outdoor enthusiasts (and a former park ranger), we love the support that Barbara has for our forests, deserts and canyons here on the Western Slope. She always votes with the environment. We are happy to hear that she wants to pursue saving water for the Western Slope and is working to mitigate wildfire damage.
Washington, D.C. may not be able to hear us down in the Four Corners region, but Rep. McLachlan definitely can and continues to listen, clearly a skill she picked up during her 20 years as a teacher. She continues to work with everyone who represents the southwestern corner of our great state. We trust her experience both from the classroom to the capitol and will vote for her on Nov. 6, will you join us?
