I have met with Kim Baxter and Barbara Noseworthy multiple times at a local business. The owner and I don’t agree on the city’s 1A tax increase. I oppose 1A because the city is not prioritizing its increasing revenues, the ballot language allows the revenue to be spent on expenses other than capital projects and a finance advisory board should have been created years ago.
However, we all recognize that we should be entitled to our opinion. Kim, Barbara and I always make a purchase when meeting at the business because it is the right thing to do.
The current atmosphere in the city is not so amicable. Businesses have reported they are being boycotted if they oppose 1A.
I support Kim Baxter and Barbara Noseworthy because they reach out to people who ask difficult questions. They know that we must focus on local problems and be willing to evaluate the effectiveness of past decisions.
They will use their communication expertise, leadership skills and professional experiences to provide the vision at City Hall to move Durango forward.
It is rare two people of this caliber run for local office. We must take advantage of their willingness to help. Elect Kim Baxter and Barbara Noseworthy as our next city councilors!
