Bayfield activities all take place on Friday, July 4, while those in Vallecito will shift to the weekend this year.
Bayfield's theme this year is "Star Spangled Salute."
The fun starts at 7 a.m. with the Lions Club pancake breakfast, which concludes at 10 a.m.
The Firecracker 5K is at 8 a.m., followed by the 1K family walk at 8:15. The cost is $30 for registration at the race. The family walk is $30 for a group. The run is a fundraiser for Skills for Living and Learning.
Calvary Presbyterian Church will have its annual pie and craft sale starting at 8 a.m.
The Mill Street Drug pet parade is at 9:45 a.m., followed by the big parade at 10 a.m.
After the parade, activities start in Joe Stephenson Park and Eagle Park in downtown Bayfield. The fun this year includes a dunk tank, kids carnival, food vendors, and the Pine River Rotary beer tent.
Wild Country plays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., while the Serranos' Horseshoe Tournament starts at noon in Eagle Park.
The one-pitch softball tournament starts at 1 p.m.
The Bayfield Chamber of Commerce will have its duck race at 1 p.m.
This year's fireworks display is on after two years of cancellations because of drought conditions The location, however, has been changed to Joe Stephenson Park because of construction at Bayfield High School. So this year's fireworks will be a blast from the past!
Durango's event include the Stars & Stripes Parade at 6 p.m., a street dance on Main Avenue from 6:45 to 9 p.m., and fireworks at 9:15 p.m. A complete schedule is at downtowndurango.org
In Vallecito, the Service League's annual arts and craft fair is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the meadow below the dam. The event includes artisan booths, a bake sale, and door prizes for attendees.
Vallecito will shoot fireworks at dusk (about 9 p.m.) on Saturday, July 5.
