Bayfield All Star Flyers won a grand champion title on Sunday at the Cheer Sport Regional Competition at the Budweiser Event Center in Loveland.
The Bayfield team competed in the youth division as a level 2 team, with 13 athletes ranging in age from six to 11 years old. They took second in state in February and were pleased to top that off with the win at regionals.
"We are so proud of our small-town team with big-time dreams!" said Annette French, the girls' coach and owner of Bayfield Gymnastics. By winning first at regionals, the team was in the running to receive a bid to attend nationals at Walt Disney World in Florida. "Unfortunately, we did not get the bid this year, but we are excited to have come so close, and we look forward to working hard towards our dream next year!"
