The Colorado High School Activities Association announced its RPI rankings on Monday, and the Bayfield High School baseball team was at the top of the list.
CHSAA is using a new RPI – Ratings Percentage Index – for postseason ratings. A team’s RPI uses an analytic formula that determines a team’s likeliness of making the postseason. Bayfield (4-2) currently ranks No. 1 with .656.
Over the weekend, the Wolverines went 3-0, beating Lamar (4-1) in the process, 10-5. Lamar ranks No. 5 with .592.
Bayfield beat St. Mary’s, 12-10. St. Mary’s ranks 24th with .472. The Wolverines also took down Manitou Springs, 7-5.
Eaton (2-0) ranks second with .604, and SkyView Academy is No. 3 with .600.
Bayfield is currently on its Spring Break, but will return to action when the Wolverines take on the Aztec Tigers at 4 p.m. on April 5 at Aztec.
