The 15th annual Bayfield Heritage Days honors the area's ranching heritage, and this year sheep dogs returned to the event. Border collies showed off their high energy and intensity as they demonstrated their sheep gathering skills Saturday at Joe Stephenson Park. Several dogs showed the difference between rookies and veterans in how they handled the sheep. Dogs impatiently waiting their turn tended to belly-creep out towards the sheep when they thought their handlers were looking the other way. Keith Fassbender, nationally known in sheep dog trial circles, led the presentation.
