Bayfield Chamber awards scholarships

Two Bayfield graduates are the recipients of this year's Bayfield Chamber of Commerce scholarships. Ute Eckstein, left, mother of Michaela Eckstein, and Taylor Morris received their checks on Aug. 17 from Brenna Morlan, chamber president, and Aurora Peters, owner of Mud Shaver Car Wash. Michaela Eckstein already had left Bayfield to attend the University of New Mexico. Morris is attending the University of Denver.

The Bayfield Chamber of Commerce awarded two scholarships to Bayfield graduates at the group's Aug. 17 meeting at Mudshaver Car Wash.

Michaela Eckstein and Taylor Morris are this year's scholarship recipients. Eckstein is studying biology at the University of New Mexico.

Morris is studying molecular biology at the University of Denver. Both plan to attend medical school.

"We are proud to support such two stellar members of the class of 2017," said chamber president Brenna Morlan. "All of this year's applicants are excellent, and it was difficult to narrow it down to two students."
