Eastbound drivers on U.S. Highway 160 between Durango and Bayfield will be delayed throughout the evening while Colorado Department of Transportation crews complete a paving project, which was prolonged by a piece of equipment that needed repairs.
“We will have a spotter at Elmore’s corner monitoring the traffic queue so we don’t plug the intersection for any length of time,” Billy McDermott, CDOT maintenance supervisor, said in a news release.
CDOT announced the project would continue during the evening, after the piece of equipment was fixed.
“We determined it was safer to complete the work rather than leave a stretch of uneven pavement in the center of the highway,” McDermott said.
The traveling public is urged to be patient, drive slowly and watch for work crews and heavy equipment on the roadway.
