Bayfield fireworks set for Tuesday night

Times file photo<br><br>Fireworks will fill the evening sky Tuesday in downtown Bayfield.

The July 4th fireworks in the Town of Bayfield will be displayed as scheduled at dusk on Tuesday night in Joe Stephenson Park in downtown Bayfield. Million Dollar Highway will perform live music in the from 7 to 9 p.m., also in the park.

On Monday, Town Manager Chris La May said there will be enough fire resources on hand for a safe celebration. Durango's fireworks are cancelled this year, as Durango Fire and Rescue Authority personnel continue monitoring the Lightner Creek Fire near Durango.

Here is the schedule for the Bayfield 4th of July celebration:

7 to 10 a.m. Bayfield Lions Club pancake breakfast, $8 adults, $4 children.

8 a.m. Calvary Presbyterian Church pie and craft sale.

8 a.m. Firecracker 5K and family walk to benefit La Plata Family Centers.

10 a.m. Fourth of July Parade.

11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Festivities in Joe Stephenson Park include kids games, Escape Room, pedal carts, beer tent, live music, and vendors with food, merchandise and information.

Noon Serranos annual horseshow tournament in Eagle Park.

1 p.m. Corn hole tournament in the Pine Valley Rotary Beer Tent.

2 p.m. Duck race at Joe Stephenson Park sponsored by the Bayfield High School FOR Club.

7 to 9 p.m. Music in the Park, featuring Million Dollar Highway.

Dusk: First National Bank of Durango fireworks show at Joe Stephenson Park.

Parking and shuttles are available before and after the parade from Bayfield High School, Bayfield Elementary School, the Bayfield Church of Christ, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints.
