Bayfield Library is rebuked by the selfish

The electoral rebuke of the Bayfield Library District’s request for a small increase is a disgraceful display of the selfishness in America today.

I moved to this area a little over a year ago, and for a short period as a homeowner was without internet, telephone or television service. The Bayfield Library was a godsend to me.

I found not only a place to access the internet, but also a wonderful refuge of art, music and literature staffed by passionate people, helpful and enthusiastically assisting patrons of all ages.

I observed over those first weeks in my new home that this library was not just a repository of literature but a very much needed community center for a large and diverse group of people: children of the community who do not have computers at home, seniors, and an enormous amount of Vallecito residents, who use the library as a lifeline.

All of this great service denied by those selfish people who could not be bothered to pay the price of one cheap pint of beer a month to help their communities most vital services. Way to go!
