The Town of Bayfield and the Pine River Library invite the community to tour the new Bayfield Library Park on Saturday, Nov. 11.

The park, which has a walking track, a playing field, picnic benches, playground equipment, basketball court, and pickle ball court, is now ready for the public to enjoy.

From 1 to 3 p.m. next Saturday, the park grand opening party includes games, activities, and crafts for all ages. The library will also unveil their new Donor Recognition Wall at the event. Attendees can enjoy a hot drink from the hot chocolate and coffee bar and decorate their own cupcakes. There will also be s'more making around the bonfire. Smokey the Bear will be stopping by from 1 to 1:30 to say hello and pose for pictures with attendees. At 1:15 p.m. there will be a ribbon cutting for the park, at 1:30 p.m. there will a doubles pickleball demo at the new court, and at 2 p.m. the donor wall will be unveiled. At 2:45 p.m. the local American Legion will perform a color guard and flag raising ceremony in honor of Veterans Day. Activities will be moved inside in case of inclement weather.

"This tremendous community asset was made possible through a partnership with the Town of Bayfield and funding from Go Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) and the Colorado Health Foundation," says Library Director Shelley Walchak. The library also seeks volunteers on Saturday, Nov. 4. Three semi-trucks full of mulch were delivered to the library. Volunteers are welcome to bring a rake around 10 a.m. and help out for an hour or so. For more information about the event or mulch spreading, contact the library at 884-2222.
