Bayfield moving forward on economic development effort

The Town of Bayfield is moving forward to develop a town vision and build upon previous public input regarding community and economic development. A visioning meeting is 6scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29 at the Pine River Senior Center.

Since 2008, the town has worked on implementing economic development projects listed in their Economic Development Strategic Plan.  On Nov. 7, 2012, the Town hosted a community meeting to develop a vision of what citizens would like to see for the future of Bayfield.  Further input was sought through an electronic survey made available on the town's website and distributed to those on the Town's e-mail distribution list. The results of the survey and community meeting can be found on the town's website at www.bayfieldgov.org.  The town believes that solidifying a vision will help prioritize economic development efforts moving forward, and would like to include the public in the process.

The current emerging themes are:

. Family based-small town feel;

. Americana preserved;

. Access and availability of outdoor opportunities;

. Attractive business climate.

The Region 9 Economic Development District will facilitate the meeting.  The meeting will also update the group on progress made on current economic goals and projects and any partners working on the various activities.  If you have input or questions prior to the meeting, please contact Chris La May, Bayfield Town Manager at 884-9544, or clamay@bayfieldgov.org.
