Bayfield Parkway is closed to through traffic as replacement work starts on the two bridges across the Pine River.
The Town of Bayfield is replacing the two bridges spanning the Pine River. Bayfield Parkway closed on Monday morning for the start of the project.
As promised, Bayfield Parkway was closed Monday morning at the two old green bridges. A big trackhoe was ripping up material from the south side of the road and lifting it into a dump truck to be hauled away, a start on removing and replacing the bridges that date from the early 1930s and are listed as functionally deficient. Last week the trackhoe ripped out trees and brush around the work area. SEMA Construction is the general contractor.
For the next several months, people coming into town from the west or going west from downtown will have to divert to Highway 160.
