Bayfield Presbyterians accept challenge from La Junta congregation

Losing town has to wear winner's school colors after state championship game
Bayfield Wolverines fans from Calvary Presbyterian Church have agreed to wear orange this Sunday in the unlikely event that the La Junta Tigers win Saturday's game. If Bayfield wins, members of First Presbyterian in La Junta will wear purple to church on Sunday.

Losing town wears the winner's colors?

Challenge accepted, say members of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Bayfield.

They will wear orange to church on Sunday if La Junta wins the 2A football championship game on Saturday, but that's not going to happen, predicted some confident Wolverine fans.

If Bayfield wins, members of the La Junta congregation will wear Bayfield purple on Sunday.

The Rev. Brian Caselles of Calvary shared the following post on his facebook page from his colleague, the Rev. Missy Jo Romano, in La Junta:

"So, hey, Brian Caselles, the people of First Presbyterian in La Junta would like to offer a friendly challenge to Calvary Pres of Bayfield. It's pretty simple: If Bayfield wins (unlikely) on Saturday, we'll all wear purple to church and snap a photo of ourselves. If La Junta wins (likely), y'all will wear orange to church and do likewise. We officially send the challenge across the mountaintops to you!"

"Ooooh.... no problem!" responded Brenda Marshall, a proud Bayfield soccer mom who will cheer Bayfield students on in any sport. "We'll DEFINITELY still be wearing our purple shirts!"
