Bayfield preschool earns three-star rating from state agency

Qualistar Colorado announced that Bayfield Early Education Programs, the nonprofit preschool in Bayfield, has earned its three-star rating

"We couldn't be more pleased about our rating," said Carol Blatnick, the center's executive director. "It really reflects our continued commitment to provide high quality care for all the children and families we serve,"

The rating measures the quality of early learning programs through an evaluation of their learning environment, family partnerships, training and education, adult-to-child ratios and group size, and accreditation. Points are earned in each of these areas and are added together to arrive at a one- to four-star rating. Each program is also presented with a detailed plan outlining specific steps for continued quality improvement.

Programs participating in the Qualistar rating process take an important step in improving their programs. "By being part of this process," said Gladys Wilson, President and CEO of Qualistar Colorado, "BEEP is truly showcasing their strong commitment to the children at their facility as well as a larger commitment to improving child care across the state." Research over almost 50 years shows the long-term benefits of high quality early childhood experiences. Preschool enhances school readiness and reduces achievement gaps, increases high school graduation rates, reduces crime rates over time, and increases employment, income and tax contribution levels.
