Two second-half goals helped the Bayfield Wolverines keep close with Pagosa Springs on the boys soccer field Tuesday.
The Wolverines (0-6, 0-4 3A Southwestern League) received a 48th-minute goal from Caleb Donelon and another in the 70th minute from Braden Thayer, but it wasn’t enough in a 4-2 home loss to the Pirates (3-2, 3-2 3A SWL).
Pagosa Springs took a 1-0 lead into halftime with a goal in the 15th minute from Kelton Christians. Noah Slingerland added another goal in the 41st minute before Christians added his second in the 60th minute to give Pagosa Springs a 3-1 lead. It would be 4-1 nine minutes later on a Jordan Heaton goal.
BHS will travel to face Montezuma-Cortez at 6 p.m. Friday.
