Coroner says girl died from self-inflicted gunshot
A 17-year-old girl who died by suicide in Bayfield earlier this month has been identified by the La Plata County Coroner’s Office.
Coroner Jann Smith said Claudia Sauceda died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound around 11:30 a.m. July 2.
Smith said Sauceda’s parents, Doug and Edna Siner, did not know what led their daughter to take her own life. An autopsy was performed that confirmed the gunshot was self-inflicted.
Efforts to reach a parent for comment were unsuccessful.
