Bayfield tops Bloomfield yet again

BHS boys top the Bobcats for the second time in three games

Bayfield High School boys basketball seems right at home playing against Bloomfield.

The Wolverines beat the Bobcats for the second time this season, this time claiming a 72-46 victory in their opener at the Rumble in the Jungle Tournament on Thursday in Aztec.

Bayfield (3-2) also topped Bloomfield in a nonconference game just before the holiday break, claiming a 75-55 victory on the road back Dec. 12. The wins over Bloomfield were sandwiched around Tuesday’s 50-47 loss at Montezuma-Cortez.

Statistics and Friday’s opponent and game time weren’t immediately available.

The Wolverines jumped out early, taking an 18-5 lead after the first quarter. They added 22 more points in the second frame to take a 40-20 lead over the Bobcats into intermission.

Bayfield ballooned its advantage to 27 points at 57-30 after three quarters before eventually rolling to the 26-point victory.
