La Plata County temporarily closed the yard waste and mulch area at the Bayfield Convenience Center through Oct. 2. The center is located at 4496 County Road 223 in Bayfield.
The closure will allow crews to convert existing yard waste into mulch, which will be given away to the public for free. For the safety of work crews, people are asked to not drive up the road to the yard waste area until it is reopened.
