The Bayfield All Star cheer team qualified for the U.S. finals!
On Sunday, Jan. 27, 18 athletes from Bayfield Gymnastics competed at the America's Best Championship Cheer Competition at the Budweiser Event Center in Loveland, where there team ranked in the top three, receiving an invitation to compete at the U.S. finals in Las Vegas on May 11-12.
"This is the first time Bayfield Flyers have received a invitation and they are excited for the opportunity to go to the finals!" said their coach, Annette French. "This was their first competition of the season, they pulled it together and nailed it!"
The team will compete in the Colorado All Star state championship in April.
"We hope to continue to build our team and improve our routine in preparation for the finals," French said. "We couldn't be more proud of our girls and thankful to their families for getting them to practice, encouraging them through the struggles of being part of a team, and believing in them and their coaches! Having parents that back and support a team regardless of what position their child is in is a reward in itself."
Assistant coach Bryce Vaughn spent countless hours choreographing, coaching and collaborating the music for this year's routine. This year's team members are ages 7-14 and are Imani Apodaca, Grace Barber Tucson, Mckenna Carnes, Elly Coey, Shayden French, Madison Dransfield, Sarah Evans, Leela Fallows, Hayden Ludwig, Hana Maletich Marquez, Amira Montoya, Allison Peacock, Aleaha Ribera, Hailey Robinette, Macy Robinette, Lennon Schulz, Lillian Valdez and Emma Vaughn.
