Pine River Library has been selected as one of only 30 small, rural and tribal libraries chosen to participate in the third cohort of the Future Ready with the Library project.
The project is sponsored by the Young Adult Library Services Association and Association for Rural and Small Libraries. As part of the project, Pine River Library will work with community partners to develop college and career readiness services for and with the middle school students in the area. The project is funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
“The project will allow the library to create opportunities for us to explore local tweens’ and teens’ concerns about their futures,” said Kate Brunner, the library’s children’s services manager. “It will focus on supporting their curiosity and passion as they become not only career and college ready but also life ready. It is my goal to open the door to multigenerational conversations, partnerships and activities that foster growth and sustainability in our community.”
Brunner participated in a two-day orientation at YALSA’s 2018 Symposium in November in Salt Lake City and will take part in YALSA’s virtual community of practice throughout 2019.
The Future Ready with the Library project will work with 30 libraries across the United States in its third cohort.
